Calling the ball "IN"

I have always thought that it was proper etiquette to only yell “OUT” if the ball is out. However I am coming across some players who yell “IN” but it often sounds like a grunt- so i think they are yelling “out”. Very confusing. What is the proper etiquette?

This post of yours reads as if you’re referring to partner communication during a point. Just about anything is okay in such cases. There’s no hard and fast etiquette.

You / Me / Go / Bounce it! / Out / No / Let’s go! / Move right / Move left / and a number of other phrases are frequently uttered in the points.

Or do I have the gist of your question wrong?
