I am very curious about the origin of Pickleball. I’ve been reading how it evolved out of a backyard game in the mid 1960’s. Contrast that with “Speckbrett” that has been played regionally in the „Münsterland“ (North-West region in Germany) since the late 1920‘s. Are these 2 different games? I’ve used to play Speckbrett when I was a kid and don’t remember the details except the large perforated paddles to deal with air resistance. I admit I am lazy about researching this, taking a forum shortcut hoping to find a sleuth who did a compare and contrast.
