Which pickleball paddle brand is the best for beginner?

Which pickleball brand/paddle do you think that bring the best performance for beginner

Even for a raw beginner, this depends. (Don’t you love that answer?)

My first day of pickleball I was blessed to have a friend who was an Instructor. He let me come to his place and hit serves with about 20 different paddles. (I’m a former tennis player – actually HIS former doubles partner in tennis – so he knew I had innate racket skills.)

It was notable how many times I’d hit ONE serve with a paddle and I immediately knew, “This isn’t it.” In about 15 minutes we narrowed my choice to three paddles … and quickly filtered that to one. And after six months I changed paddles; I haven’t changed paddles again … yet.

If a beginner doesn’t have such an Instructor friend … ask the players around you if you could hit a few serves with their paddle. Maybe you’ll get a rapid feel for a few paddle from which to choose.

I play in a heavily populated area where we have 10 courts with Disneyland-level queues and the generic cheap Selkirk is the most common paddle. For the 3.5 and above it’s a mix of CRBN and JOOLA with a sprinkle of Six Zero and Vatic. My current favourite is my B&B Filth and the DBD

“It depends.” (You’re welcome!)

Personal preference extends even down to the beginner level. Have your beginner friends try / borrow several paddles for just a handful of points at a time. They’ll figure it out.

My first lesson, my Instructor had about 18 different paddles with him. I hit serves (Yes. Just serves…) with all of them and quickly narrowed to 3 paddles. BUT … I had 50 years of tennis experience so I knew what “felt right.” I could see your beginner friends not even knowing what “good” feels like. Your observations may be of help to narrow their search.
