Wording of "new" USPA ruling about no officiating by bystanders/onlookers

Hi- Recently, I was involved in a game where a hard volley went cleanly --and I mean CLEANLY-- under the net. The shot was so well-disguised that even my partner thought it was “over”. But when a bystander heard/saw me calling it UNDER, they took to my defense. The opposing team immediately told the bystander to MTOB and that their opinion didn’t matter. They then turned their attention to ME and said that conflicting calls among my partner and I constituted an immediate ruling of the shot being legit (as with a line call).

  1. Though bystanders (by-rule) can’t help on-court players with LINE calls, does the ruling indeed ALSO apply to other disputable issues (such as under-net shots etc.)?
  2. Were my opponents correct in stating that a conflict betw my partner and I about the under-net shot, constituted an immediate legitimization of the shot, as with conflicting line calls?

Cheers
